Listen to Podcast Episode 70: The Answer Is Yes!
It is early morning, and I spent the night in the home of my dear friends, Jim and Louine Woodroof. I’m sitting in their study, and as I look at Psalm 30, as I look down the margin of their Bible, I see written, Yes, Yes, Yes.
That’s what a friend always does; he says yes. Jim and Louine Woodroof said yes to me many years ago. I met Jim and Louine 46 years ago in Memphis, Tennessee when I worked on the campus of Memphis University. He was a mentor I didn’t know I needed.
Listen to Psalm 30 and hear the promises that ring out “yes” to you. God’s answer to you this morning is “yes.”
I will exalt you, O Lord,
for you lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
O Lord my God, I called to you for help,
and you healed me.
O Lord, you brought me up from the grave;
you spared me from going down into the pit.
Sing the praises of the Lord, you saints of his;
praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
When I felt secure, I said,
“I will never be shaken.”
O Lord, when you favored me,
you made my royal mountain stand firm;
but when you hid your face,
I was dismayed.
To you, Lord, I called;
to the Lord I cried for mercy:
“What gain is there in my destruction,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me;
O Lord, be my help.”
You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.
My dear friends, when you cry out for help, the answer is yes. He will always hear, he will always come because you are loved.
All the best,
Terry Sanford Smith
